FILE WORKFLOW GUIDE
How to extract selected pages from a PDF
Enter page ranges such as 1-3, 5 to create one new PDF containing only the pages you need. Learn page order, numbering and the limits of PDF splitting.
Use page positions, not printed page numbers
The first physical page in the PDF is page 1, including any cover. A report whose first printed page is numbered 1 may actually place that page third in the file. Open the source in a PDF reader and check page positions before extracting.
Extract pages in three steps
- Open Split PDF and add one PDF up to 25 MB and 100 pages. Password-protected files are not supported.
- Enter individual pages or ascending ranges separated by commas. For example, 1-3, 5 keeps the first three pages and page five.
- Process and download the new PDF. Open it to check page count, order and readability before sharing it. The original file stays unchanged.
Page-range examples for a six-page document
| Enter | Pages in the result | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1-3, 5 | 1 → 2 → 3 → 5 | Keep a range plus one page |
| 3, 1-2, 2 | 3 → 1 → 2 | Input order is kept; duplicates are removed |
| 4-2 or 7 | Invalid | Ranges must ascend and pages must exist |
One new PDF, not one file per page
This tool collects selected pages into a single document. To create two separate files, run it twice with different ranges and keep both downloads. It does not automatically create a ZIP of individual pages or split by bookmarks.
Before sending the extracted document
PDF page operations may not preserve signatures, interactive forms, bookmarks or other document-level features. Check any such features separately. Extracting a page is not a redaction tool: material that remains on a selected page is still part of the new file.
The operation runs in your browser without uploading the PDF. If you need to combine the result with another document, use Merge PDF and put the files in the required order.
Practice with a sample document
Download a four-page document created by FileUnbox and try 3, 1-2. The result should have three pages in the order 3, 1, 2. This sample contains no personal data and is not a customer file.
